A video of recent developments at Osaka University includes a bidirectional wheel, dubbed the Omni-ball, a crawler and gripper based on the same principle, and another gripper capable of handling soft objects delicately. (Watch video)

As part of this research, they tested the effects of turning radius and communications range on programmed flocking behavior in a group of ten aerial robots.
