Da Vinci surgical robot peeling a grape

The Da Vinci surgical robot has already been used for various stunts other than surgery. Apart from saving lives, it has been used for folding tiny paper planes or even playing the 'operation' board game. This time, a Da Vinci unit from North Bristol NHS Trust in the UK is peeling a grape!

A video of recent developments at Osaka University includes a bidirectional wheel, dubbed the Omni-ball, a crawler and gripper based on the same principle, and another gripper capable of handling soft objects delicately. (Watch video)
The above image is taken from a video of research done by Sabine Hauert, Severin Leven, and Dario Floreano of the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland. As part of this research, they tested the effects of turning radius and communications range on programmed flocking behavior in a group of ten aerial robots.
